MSC Expansion Media

Mesenchymal stem cells can now be rapidly expanded from either bone marrow or adipose tissue, without the need for plate coatings, in a clinically-upgradable medium formulation! Below are the two media that CELLnTEC are able to provide:

  • The new CnT-Prime MSC medium (CnT-PR-MSC) offers class-leading culture of both bone marrow and adipose-derived MSCs. Cells growing in CnT-Prime MSC medium also demonstrate extended longevity and remain strongly multipotent for at least 4 passages.
  • CnT-Prime MSC-XF medium (CnT-PR-MSC-XF) enables high efficiency isolation and expansion of both adipose and bone marrow derived MSCs, without plate coating, in a fully xeno-free environment that can be upgraded for clinical use!

Class leading proliferation rates are achieved using factors to improve retention of cells in an undifferentiated phenotype, and co-factors to improve growth factor binding and proliferation.

MSCs expanded under these conditions readily differentiate down one of the 3 primary lineages following addition of the differentiation supplements.

MSC Differentiation

Mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow and adipose tissue maintained in CnT-Prime MSC media retain the ability to differentiate down the three main lineages even after extended periods in culture.

To induce the desired differentiation, the following supplement packs are used:

  • Adipogenic Differentiation Supplement (CnT-MSCDIFF-AD.S) - enables high efficiency differentiation of BM-MSCs (Bone Marrow) and AD-MSCs (Adipose Derived) maintained in one of the CnT-Prime family of MSC expansion media.
  • Osteogenic Differentiation Supplement (CnT-MSCDIFF-OST.S) - enables high efficiency differentiation of MSCs maintained in one of the CnT-Prime family of MSC expansion media.
  • Chondrogenic Differentiation Supplement (CnT-MSCDIFF-CHOND.S) - enables high efficiency differentiation of MSCs maintained in one of the CnT-Prime family of MSC expansion media.
